When Microsoft Word stops working, you have to do something. There are two choices: find the problem online or close the program. If you choose to close it, there might be a problem that Microsoft can’t fix. When you search online for a solution, by default, bing will show up in a window.

Way 1: In Safe Mode, you may disable add-ins.

Start Microsoft Word for Windows in Word Safe Mode. You can use it safely if the software crashes or has problems with an add-in or extension at startup.

The first step is to try Word in Safe Mode. If everything works okay, then there is probably an add-in that’s causing problems with the program.
